Quarterly Teams Competition – Description

Quarterly Teams Competition – Autumn 2026
Competition Period: 1 February 2026 – 30 April 2026

The Quarterly Teams Competition is a new, inclusive teams event designed to run alongside
normal club sessions. It allows teams to compete over a full three-month period using standard
matchpoint sessions, with no disruption to regular play.

Key Features

  • Five divisions based on the club’s published ranking list (effective 1 January 2026).
  • Teams consist of four players – no substitutes permitted.
  • Teams may play in any normal session on any day, subject to normal session restrictions. Sessions must be of 6 tables or more.
  • All four team members must start play at the same table in each counted session. If there is a hesitation movement, players must not start play at the turnaround table.

Scoring

  • Scores are calculated automatically using the club’s normalised matchpoint ranking system.
  • A minimum of 8 valid sessions is required.
  • Only the best 8 session scores per team are counted.
  • Scores are accumulated across more than 250 boards per quarter, providing a statistically robust
    outcome.

Prizes

  • Each division winner receives a $200 cash prize.
  • Additional prizes may be awarded if entries exceed minimum requirements

Eligibility

  • Players must appear on the published ranking list to be eligible.
  • Division restrictions apply to ensure fair and balanced competition.

Results

  • Progressive results will be published weekly on the ranking website.
  • Final results and prize presentations will occur at the start of the next season.

The Quarterly Teams Competition complies fully with the club’s Competition Charter and represents
a fair, flexible, and modern approach to teams bridge.
